The tricks are of the more classical variety, with Allan still managing to deliver them with enough pizazz to sell their amazement to the newest of sceptics.

At its core, the show has all the makings of the next “Dear Evan Hansen”, with its promise to be an emotional rollercoaster. However, the book ends up feeling largely predictable and simultaneously convoluted with analogies.

Icke’s modernisation of this classic text is utter theatrical perfection and arguably one of the most gripping scripts of the year. Both his direction and writing are strokes of genius which are nothing short of masterful.
